Jeffrey M. "Jeff" Smith, 54, of Elyria, passed away peacefully late Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023, at University Hospitals, Cleveland, after a lengthy illness.
Jeff was born March 23, 1969, Sandusky, the son of Joseph Harry and Paulette Marie (Roth) Smith Jr. He was a 1988 graduate of Sandusky High School. Jeff enjoyed cooking and just relaxing since he wasn't able to work due to all of his health issues.
He loved WWE wrestling and his favorite pastime was watching any of their events on the TV. Jeff was also an avid fan of University of Michigan Wolverines and he felt fortunate enough to at least be able to see them beat The Ohio State Buckeyes two years in a row. He also enjoyed collecting movies of all sorts and spending time with his family.
Jeff is survived by his sister, Lisa (Alberto) Rodriguez of Elyria; three brothers, Kevin (Rachel) Smith of Tiffin, Eric (Alicia) Smith of Toledo, and David (Jacklyn) Smith of Berlin Heights; niece, Carissa Graham of South Carolina; nephew, Logan Wright of Elyria; great-nieces, Kennedy and Lily; great-nephews, Jackson and Joseph; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Louise Roth; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Shirley (Ferdinandsen) Smith Sr.; niece, Shelby Rodriguez; and cousin, Greg Browne.
Private funeral services will take place. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, 3100 W. Central Avenue, Suite 250, Toledo, Ohio, 43606.
Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
