Jennie Ebinger
Apr 12, 1931 - Dec 26, 2024
Greenwich
Jennie Beasore Ebinger died Thursday, Dec.26, 2024, at Norwalk Memorial Home after a brief illness. Jennie was born April 12, 1931, to George and Eleanor Mitchell Beasore, who preceded her in death. Born prematurely, her father thought she looked like a toad, and the nickname stuck throughout Jennie's life.
At 93, Jennie was the last living member of her immediate family. Her five siblings and their spouses, John and Jean Beasore, Jack and Eileen Beasore, Patricia and Don McIntire, Louetta and Kenny Fishbaugh and Tom and Carol Beasore all preceded Jennie in death.
Jennie graduated from Greenwich High in 1949. While cheering for the Shamrocks she met Evert Ebinger. Jennie and Evert were married Aug. 18, 1950. Evert preceded Jennie in death Sept. 11, 1967. Although just married 17 years Jennie and Evert built a family of six; Four Eggs and Two J's.
Jennie and Evert's four children and spouses survive, Gordon and Virginia Ebinger, Guy and Barbara Ebinger, Sara Ebinger and Diane Lewis and Judi and Rick Conaway.
The family continued to grow as grandchildren were born and grew into adulthood. Surviving grandchildren are Tiffany Ebinger Vanderpool and her husband Eric, Tai Ebinger, Jacob Ebinger and fiancé Ashley, Dan Ebinger, Jordan Ebinger and wife Stephanie, Joshua Ebinger and wife Andrea and Grace Conaway. Great-grandchildren are rounding out the family picture, Ava Howard, Presley Vanderpool, Eliza Detamore, Rowan Ebinger, Jordan James Ebinger, Archie Ebinger and Turner Ebinger.
If you thought Jennie was a devoted mom who attended as many of her children's activities as humanly possible, you should have seen the zeal shown when the grandchildren started participating in activities. Known as mom, grandma Toad, or Toadie, she was the family's biggest fan.
While raising four children, with the help of her village, Jennie worked as a bank teller at Willard United Bank in Greenwich. Jennie graduated from Ohio University School of Banking and retired as a branch manager of Key Bank in 1996.
Jennie was an avid reader and served on Greenwich Friends of the Library Board for many years. She also was a volunteer for American Cancer Society, a member of Greenwich Area Historical Society, a South Central Trojan fan and booster, and a member of Greenwich United Methodist Church.
Once when Jennie received a telemarketing survey, she told the caller she was neutral and had no opinion. If you knew Jennie, you knew she was anything but neutral. She loved red, white and blue and disliked pink. She loved to work in her flower beds and hated housework. She preferred Scottish plaid over floral prints. Jennie enjoyed game shows and old murder mysteries and disliked sitcoms. But most of all, Jennie loved and was proud of her family and was not the least bit neutral about letting it be known.
A graveside service, led by Padre Michael Padula, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024. All those who knew and loved Jennie are invited to join the family at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery, Townsend Street, Greenwich.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwich Friends of the Library Board, 4 New Street, Greenwich, Ohio, 44837.
Eastman Funeral Home, Greenwich is honored to serve the Ebinger family during this time.
