It is with heavy hearts and deep respect that we announce the passing of Jesse Fernando Veliz, a proud United States Marine, devoted family man, and beloved member of his community. Jesse passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him.
Born January 4, 1959, Jesse grew up with a fierce sense of honor and a heart full of loyalty. He answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he stood tall among his brothers in arms, defending freedom with courage, conviction, and unwavering pride. Jesse exemplified the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment during his military service and in every chapter of his life. Jesse was a proud and dedicated employee of Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked for over 30 years. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and sense of community left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with.
But Jesse's greatest pride was not found in medals or ranks but in his family and the friendships he nurtured with quiet strength and boundless warmth. He was known for his easy smile, his steady presence, and the way he showed up, always, for the people he loved. Whether sharing a story or lending a helping hand, Jesse made everyone feel seen, valued, and safe.
He is survived by his daughter, Denille (Shane) Toccaceli; son, David Howard; grandchildren, Jesslyn Jenkins, Kaden Folk, Kevin Howard, and Gabriella Toccaceli; sister, Linda (Bob) Smith; and brothers, Raul (Cindy) Veliz Jr., Joe Veliz, Jimmy Veliz, and Victor Veliz; each of whom carries a part of his spirit and his story. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends who brought joy to his life and will cherish his memory always.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terri Nicholson-Veliz; his mother, Mary (Avila) Veliz; his father, Raul Veliz Sr.; his sister, Rosemary Veliz; and his sister-in-law, Tammy Veliz; maternal grandparents, Jose and Teresa (Estein) Avila; and paternal grandparents, Manuel and Guadalupe (Gomez) Veliz,
A celebration of Jesse's life will be from 10-1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, with military honors to follow at Castalia Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Family, friends, and fellow veterans are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who lived with purpose, loved deeply, and gave selflessly. This time together will honor the legacy Jesse leaves behind and the countless lives he touched along the way.
