Jessica N. Dickman, 41, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.
Jessica (AKA Jess or Jessie) was a lifelong resident of Sandusky, where she loved and took full advantage of lakeside living. She grew up in Grace Church, where she was very active in the acolytes, choir, and youth group. The connections and impactful experiences during her own time in youth group inspired her to continue working with the group as a leader in the diocese for over a decade. The relationships created through this endeavor were ones that she cherished to her final day. She loved photography and was rarely without a phone or camera in her hands, all things Disney (especially the beloved mouse), listening to music, singing and dancing like nobody's watching, traveling (especially to the Magic Kingdom), and she was always up for a good night of rockband to de-stress. She found joy in being with family, gathering with friends, and long talks with her best friend, her mom. But what she loved the mos, and brought her the greatest joy, was being with, loving on, and creating lasting memories with the crowning achievements of her life, her smart, strong, beautiful, and brave girls.
Earning a bachelor's and associates degrees at Bowling Green followed by a master's degree from Capella University gave Jessica the license to become the counselor she had dreamt of being since childhood. She practiced in different locations throughout the area over the last 13 years, but most recently had settled into a position at Family Health Services in her hometown of Sandusky, where she and her colleagues created a work family that brought her joy entering the office every day. Jessica was looking forward to a long and happy career there continuing to provide support to all who walked through her door. Jessica was passionate about her career as a mental health counselor and dedicated to making as positive of an impact as possible on all her clients lives. It is a tragedy that her dream was cut short and countless souls have lost the opportunity to be touched by her counsel.
Jessica battled with illness, including Multiple Sclerosis, which challenged her physically, emotionally, and spiritually, more than she deserved. Her short life had so many struggles, but her perseverance, faith, resilience, and out-right stubbornness and sass (a trait observed in a long line of women in her family) guided her through, along with a mighty village of family and friends that surrounded her every step of the way.
She is survived by her loving parents, Julie and Greg (Poppa) Eastlake and John (Marianne) Webb; siblings, Tara, Alex (Kristin), Joshua, Jonah (Alexis), and David (Mary); and the absolute loves and lights of her life, her daughters, Maya (16) and Lylah (12).
Jessica was taken from this world too soon and her loss leaves an impossible void for the family and friends that loved her, the people whose lives she was able to touch, and most importantly and sadly, her children. Through challenges, traumas, and illness, Jessica was determined to be the best mother she could be for her girls, fiercely fighting to provide the best for them in every way, through all circumstances. There was nothing quite like the pure pride and unabiding joy seen in the eyes of our Jess as when she looked at her babies. It would be her hope and is the hope of her family, that her legacy lives on through her love for them and their bright lights.
The pain and suffering this world inflicted is behind you now. May He wrap you in His peace. Until we meet again.
Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, until the time of Jessica's funeral at 1 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky. Father Seth Wymer will preside.
