Johnny "John J." Walker, 80, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born November 17, 1945, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Johnnie Jr. Walker and Edith Mae Walker Towner.

In his early years, a special aunt, Mariah Arrington, helped raise him. He came to Ohio when he was eight years old. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and became a sergeant. After returning home from the service, he met and married Lynda (Jackson) Walker. They had 56 years together.

John was a quiet man and a hard worker. He was a machinist at General Motors, who took great pride in his work, and he worked there for over 50 years. John was there for all of the name changes: General Motors, New Departure, Delphi, and KBI. He was a GM man.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda Walker; son, John L. (Jeanne) Walker of Toledo; four grandchildren, Natalie, Nikia, Tamara, and Bronte'(Tiffany); six great-grandchildren; his brother, Bobby (Tonya) Towner of Sandusky; three sisters, Jean and Linda Towner of Sandusky, and Joann Everett Towner of Illinois; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; special aunt, Mariah Arrington; and his daughter, Carla Mathews.

Friends may call from noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
