Joseph F. Hemmer, 70, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025.
He was born September 10, 1954, in Sandusky, to Lois J. (Lawrence) and the late James F. Hemmer.
Joseph was a graduate of Margareta High School and was formerly employed by Dixon Ticonderoga Crayon Factory. He was quite the movie buff and enjoyed watching movies from all genres. He loved making home videos of his family to add to his collection. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the guitar, and writing little stories.
He is survived by his children, Dana (Matt) Savage, Jason (Michelle) Hemmer, and Joanna (Mike) Steinruck; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jim (Cindy) Hemmer, Julie (Dave) Pocock, Janie (Robert) Jennings and Jena Hemmer; his loving caretaker, Trisha Ernst; and many nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Including his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dawn M. (Watson) Hemmer.
At his request, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be for immediate family Saturday, August 9 and 16, 2025, at his mother's home.
Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870, is assisting family with arrangements.

I went to school with Joe and worked with him for several years at Barr Rubber, Joe was always a quiet type of guy .
