Joseph C. O'Brien, 72, of Bellevue, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1951, in Richwood, West Virginia, to Alberta (Hamrick) and Alfred O'Brien.
Joseph worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 24 years, retiring in 2010. The last few years, he enjoyed driving his 2019 yellow Corvette, car shows, and Pink Floyd concerts with his special friend, Pat Williams.
He married Deborah K. "Debbie" O'Brien on Sept. 9, 1972, and she preceded him in death Aug. 10, 2017.
Joseph is survived by their sons, Joey C. O'Brien II of Norwalk, Jason E. O'Brien of Norwalk, and Justin M. O'Brien of Bellevue; sisters, Kim Quiggle of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Connie (Robert) Christy of Galivantz Ferry, South Carolina; brother, Dan (Denise) O'Brien of Alliance; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Jay Quiggle.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, until the time of Joseph's Masonic Services at 4 p.m. at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Bellevue Masonic Lodge #273 will perform the services. Burial will be at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens, Gallipolis.

Your dad, Joe, will be missed by all those who knew him. He has gone home to be with your mom, my cousin, Debbie. You guys are in our prayers as you move forward in life. Listen and take advice from your Uncle Paul and Uncle David, two great guys that will help guide you.
