June R. Rupp

Sandusky
June Rose (Roll) Rupp, 91, passed away Friday. Dec. 8, 2023.
June was born Friday the 13th of May, 1932, in Sandusky, to Edwin and Violet May Roll. She attended both Perkins and Sandusky school systems and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950.
After graduating high school, she worked at Brown Industries beginning in July, 1950. At Brown Industries, she met the love of her life, James "Jim" Rupp, from Norwalk when he was painting the offices. Jim and June were married Aug. 22, 1953. June resigned from Brown Industries in Dec., 1953, shortly after learning she was to have her first child.
In 1954, they started a family, ultimately having six children, Nancy (Barry) Glass, James (Margaret Dolan) Rupp, Charles (Panna) Rupp, Steven Rupp, Donna Rupp, and Brian (Missy) Rupp. She was an avid supporter of her children and their activities. She was active in the Parents Teachers Association and a Band Parent for over 22 years, helping with every bake sale, uniform fund drive, and concession stand at Erie County Fair. She was at every one of her kids' band concerts, Little League games, basketball games, swim meets, track meets, and softball games. When eventually she was blessed with grandchildren, she attended every event she could. She also enjoyed volunteering at the State Theater and St. Mary's Community Suppers.
Family was everything to June. It was evident from the time her mother fell ill when June was only 16. She took care of her father and younger brother. Her father lived with her and her family until he remarried late in life. The family never missed any family reunions. She also was a caregiver taking care of her husband with his heart problems. He undoubtedly lived many years longer due to her care. She also took care of her father as he aged, her uncle at the end of his life, and her daughter, Donna, after she fell ill.
She loved going to Cedar Point with her husband, Jim, to people watch. They often enjoyed time there with their children and nieces and nephews. They continued the Cedar Point tradition with the grandkids, Nathan (Deanna) Glass, Ryan Glass, Alan (Jessica) Rupp, Bradley (Kristine) Rupp, Collin and Chelsea (Darren) Vivant, and Tristan and Alexandria Bird. She is also fondly remembered by seven great-grandchildren.
While raising her children, she had a part-time job of sending out bus money envelopes, which involved labeling boxes and boxes of envelopes, one for every child riding a Perkins School System bus. She returned to full-time work while still raising her children. She was the first secretary of Multiple Listing Services (MLS) when it opened in July, 1973. In Jan., 1978, she left MLS and began working at The Industrial Nut Corporation as the secretary of Customer Service, retiring in July, 1997. She then went on to work for many years for Huntley Uniform Services until the business closed in 2012.
Once a month for over 30 years, June had "Club Gang" get-togethers. It was a special group of girlfriends (and eventually their husbands as well) where the women would talk and the men would play cards. She also attended many of the luncheons from "The 50's Group"'; 1950 graduates of Sandusky High School.
She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Church in Sandusky and longtime member of American Legion 2529 Auxiliary.
June is survived by her brother, Edwin (Sonny) Roll Jr.; five children; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James in 2008; daughter, Donna in 2020; parents, Edwin and Violet Roll; father-in-law, John Rupp; mother-in-law, Lucy Naomi (Wheaton) Rupp; aunt and uncle, Marian and Louis Loreno; uncle, Harold Roll; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, until the time of June's funeral at 1 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
