Kathleen W. Kreidler, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, Sept. 19, 2024, at home after a brief illness.
Kathy was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Kent, Ohio, to the late John and Coletta (Downey) Gaking.
Kathy was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Sandusky, and continued lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. Over the years, she was employed with Erie County Department of Jobs and Family Services, Macy's jewelry department, and Coldwell Banker. Kathy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky and spent a great deal of time volunteering at area hospitals, including Providence Hospital Women's Auxiliary and at Firelands Regional Medical Center gift shop. Her commitment to her community earned her the Women in Excellence Award. In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed being a part of a bridge club and golf leagues at Mills Creek Golf Course with her friends.
Kathy is survived by her sons, John "JJ" Kreidler and Matt (Tracie McKillips) Kreidler, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Maddie (Erin) Dreger of Alliance, Ohio and Jake Kreidler of Brooklyn, New York; sister, Mary Fran Kreidler of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob "Jake" Kreidler, in 2011.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A Prayer Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Monte Hoyles presiding. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
