Kathleen Schoder Obituary

Shirley W. Schoder

Nov 19, 1939 - Dec 13, 2025

Sandusky

Shirley W. (Scheifley) Schoder, 86, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, at her home.

Born November 19, 1939, in Sandusky, the daughter of Erwin and Florence (Hemmer) Scheifley. She was a 1957 graduate of Sandusky High School. Shirley had worked at Kroger, in the deli department, for 25 years, retiring in 2002.

She'll be remembered for her nurturing spirit and love for family. She cared for her husband as he aged with Parkinson's. She cared for her grandchildren, spending countless hours creating crafts, personalized cards and holiday sweatshirts. She shared her love of cooking and baking with family, friends and neighbors; baking dozens of cookies, cakes and pies for all occasions. She loved decorating the house for every season and took great pride in planting many colorful flowers in her yard. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Curt (Kathleen) Schoder and Matt (Christina) Schoder, both of Sandusky; her four granddaughters, Maria, Diana (Sean Armen), Elizabeth, and Abigail Schoder; a brother, Gary (Patricia) Scheifley of Seattle, Washington; her sister, Sandy Kellem of Mesa, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Ronald O. "Ron" Schoder, November 17, 2024; and rescue dog, Fifi, September 19, 2025.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday December 20, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Michael M. Conklin officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the caregivers of Home Instead Health Care for the compassion and love they have shown to Shirley and her family. It was truly appreciated.

Memorial contribu-tions can be made in her memory to Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
