Kenneth Wiley Obituary

Kenneth Wiley

Oct 27, 1941 - Mar 24, 2025

Berlin Heights

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Kenneth Wiley ("Mayor West of 61").

Kenneth was born in Lomanesville, Kentucky, and moved to Berlin Heights when he was six months old. He worked at Ford Motor Company, Lorain, for 30 years. After retiring from "work", he found a fun job working at Sawmill Creek as a security officer and driver.

He loved his family more than anything, especially his grandson Jacob. In addition to his family, he loved golfing, putting together model cars, traveling and Cleveland Browns. Everyone who watched a Browns game with him remembers his touchdown dance.

He and his wife of 61 years had many adventures and made many memories traveling to Gatlinburg, Virginia, Canada, including Niagara Falls, Toronto, and Quebec. They visited Ground Zero, the Empire State Building (during Hurricane Sandy!), and Freedom Trail, Alaska, during which time they saw black bears, eagles, and glaciers. They continued their adventures by visiting Plymouth Rock and the Liberty Bell, whale watching, kissing the blarney stone, walking the Appalachian Trail, The Great Smokey Mountains, Disney World, Mammoth Cave, and many local adventures.

Of all the things he accomplished in life, he was most proud of the children he raised.

He loved and served his country by spending time in the Navy when he was 18 years old.

He loved and humbly served his God by attending church with his wife and family and reading the Bible every night. He was a deacon, usher, and board member at Huron Assembly of God.

He served his community and village by working at Hinman Funeral Home, Berlin Heights Police Department as an EMT, a firefighter, an ambulance dispatcher, and a school volunteer. His community showed him their appreciation for all he had done for the Village of Berlin Heights by naming him Citizen-of-the-Year in 2015.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby (Moore); his daughter, Sandi (Craig) Miros; son, Branden Wiley and grandson, Jacob Miros; his sisters-in-law, Helen Moore and Susie Greiner; his sister, Roberta Hammer; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and great-great nephews and great-great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Wiley and Maggie Castle; brothers, Jim and Charles Wiley; sisters, Betty Wiley, Marylou Castle, and Jean Herman.

Friends may call from 5- 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights, Ohio 44811. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights, Ohio 44811. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
