Kevin Deehr Obituary

Kevin Eugene Deehr

Sep 15, 1963 - Nov 6, 2021

Akron

Kevin E. Deehr would have turned 59 years old this birthday, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, but Nov. 6, 2021, Kevin's journey through life ended. Kevin's valiant fight to stay with those he loved got him through three cancers and bought him five extra years that we are grateful for. Kevin worked, when not hospitalized, while in treatment for three cancers, in addition to spending his personal time with his wife, Francine Joy Deehr, and his grandson, Lincoln Harold, in Akron, Ohio.

Kevin worked for Spitzer Dealership in sales, training, and management in the Akron area. When that dealership closed, Kevin was employed by Sunbelt Rentals out of Canton. He worked his way up from heavy equipment delivery to Outside Regional Sales Representative. Kevin also organized fundraising drives for Cancer foundations, with NASCAR, Akron Rubber Ducks, Aflac, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, and Gary Sinise Foundation helping veterans and their families nationally.

Kevin was born to Patricia Beers and Harold Deehr and grew up with sisters, Kim and Joy in Berlin Heights. Kevin wrestled and played varsity football at Edison High School. He also was active in karate and joined the Marines soon after the birth of his son, Jacob. Kevin drove trucks cross country until he relocated to Akron and married Francine Joy Gasper. Together they raised Francine's daughter, Tamara Lutz, and later were blessed by Tamara's son, Lincoln, who was always Kevin's beloved shadow.

Kevin is survived by his beloved spouse, Francine Joy Deehr; daughter, Tamara Lutz; son, Jacob Herzig; siblings, Kim Hahn, Joy Aitkins, and Rusty Blevins; and niece, Shay Adelman. Kevin's grandchildren are Vanessa Appling, Lincoln Harold, Scarlet Herzig, Gray Herzig, and Cole Herzig.

Kevin had a passion for music and was self-taught on the guitar. He sang in his spare time, entertaining friends, neighbors, family, and at a few public events. He also wrote lyrics and created the musical background for those songs which have been recorded in the Library of Congress.

Kevin lived life with gusto, defended those who needed to be defended, helped those in need even if they were strangers, and was always there for his family. He was greatly loved and will always remain in our hearts and memories. Per Kevin's request, there was no funeral. He opted for a celebration of life party for his friends and family at Wingfoot State Park, Mogadore, which was Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022. He loved fishing and spent many days at Wingfoot State Park and expressed he would like attendees to be able to enjoy the same at his final celebration. You can view photos of this event on Facebook under Kevin Deehr. This obituary is to remember Kevin Eugene Deehr on his birthday with love and gratitude for sharing his life.
