Laurie Blair Obituary

Laurie Ann Blair

Jan 16, 1972 - Apr 1, 2025

Oak Harbor

Laurie Ann Blair, affectionately known as Lollie, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the age of 53. She was born January 16, 1972, in Toledo, the daughter of the late Jerry and Marilyn (Hartman) Miller. Raised in Oak Harbor, she was a 1990 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. Laurie earned an associate's degree in business from Terra Community College in Fremont and a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University.

In 1992, Laurie began her public service employment as an office assistant for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In 1996, she transferred to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife as an Office Assistant. Laurie enjoyed this position very much because she got to assist in the fieldwork, banding eagles, ducks, swans, and terns. In 2011, she transferred to the ODNR Office of Coastal Management as Assistant to the Chief. In 2013, Laurie joined the Ottawa County Transportation Agency as a Human Resource Manager and was later named the Director of OCTA.

Laurie beat all of the statistics by relentlessly fighting pancreatic cancer for over 5 years. Her strong will, determination, and positive attitude helped. It was a strong support system and family, especially the grandchildren, that kept her going.

Laurie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a special bond with Carter and T.J. Laurie enjoyed traveling, especially anywhere in the Caribbean with beaches and beautiful sunsets, as well as a good cookout or time spent with her friend group on the lake.

Survived by the love of her life, husband, Terry Blair; sister, Judy Miller Binns (Mike Monak); brother, Danny Miller (Gina); sons, Jacob (Samantha King) Cleaver and Matthew (Terina Cover) Cleaver who are both the biggest accomplishments of Laurie's life; stepdaughters, Kelly (Joe Roper) Blair, Bobbie Jo (Scott Chasteen) Blair, Tory Wood, Alexandria (Zach Clark) Rawls and Kaitlyn Rawls; grandchildren, Carter, Skylar, Ivy and Theodore "T.J." Cleaver, Lilly and Jameson Harrison and Lilah Salinas; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Natosha) Domrose, Hannah Franer, Leah, Myah Domrose, Josh Miller, Bryson, and Josh Jr., Grant Miller (Kayla Kemenah), Shannon (Colin) Shank, Cooper and Carson Shank.

Laurie would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to the Oncology Staff at Magruder Hospital, especially her nurses Katie, Mary, Meredith, and Heidi, for taking care of her and always making her feel loved.

Visitation for family and friends is from 12-8 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 165 E. Water Street, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 450 N. Rocky Ridge Road, Oak Harbor, where additional visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Elliston Cemetery.
