Leroy James Lemmon, 90, died Monday Oct. 3, 2022.

Leroy was born May 27, 1932, in Sandusky, parents Dorothy Helen (Radde and James Hugh Lemmon. He lived on Mason Road south of Sandusky until his mother died in 1940. Moving to Clyde shortly thereafter, he attended Clyde schools until 1947 and graduated from Bradner High School in 1950.

In 1951, Leroy enlisted in U.S. Air Force and served in Europe until 1955, stationed in the French Zone, American Zone, France Toul-Rosieres Air Force Base, and Spagdahlem Air Force Base in Germany doing radio repair.

In 1957, Leroy started working for UPS, retiring in 1989 after 32 years of service.

Leroy was a member of Clyde Jaycees, Kiwanis, Knights of Pythias, Clyde Community Council, Clyde United Projects, St. Paul Lutheran Church, APOA, EAA, Elks, American Legion, and VFW.

Leroy enjoyed life, which included family, fishing, flying, and traveling. After retiring, he traveled in his RV for many years, crossing the USA, Canada, and Mexico. He ended up living in Naples, Florida, with his wife, Lois, and enjoyed community and friends there. He was very pleased with the location Lois picked for them.

Leroy is survived by wife, Lois of Naples, Florida; Dorothy Bookman of Perrysburg and son, Jeff (Sue) Lemmon of Clyde; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Irene Taylor Lemmon; daughter, Judith Bentley; and brother, Don Lemmon, who died on the same day as Leroy.

Leroy's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at the funeral home.
