Lionel Stovall, 71, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Lionel was born in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Thomas Lee Stovall and Willie Mae (Smith) Stovalll. He was the youngest of three sons, including Thomas Lee Stovall Jr. and Charles Stovall. His parents migrated to Washington, D.C. where he and his brothers attended D.C Public Schools. Lionel graduated from Bell Vocational High School where he received certifications as a Brick Layer and Welder. As a child, Lionel was precocious and at times mischievous. He enjoyed playing with his brothers and going on family vacations.

In 1972, he met Velda Blacksheare, his wife and forever soulmate, and they share two beautiful children together, Pamela Blacksheare and Lionel D. "Scooter" Stovall. Lionel worked for his father's construction company where he was a brick layer and welder building brick homes in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas.

In 1982, Lionel relocated his family to Sandusky where he was employed by AKIL, Inc. for 29 years, which was founded in 1979 as an industrial cleaning and construction company by the late William "Al" Mason and Lionel's brother, Charles Stovall. Lionel was the General Manager of the industrial cleaning department. He was affectionately described as the "Head Huncho" by his brother, Charles.

Lionel enjoyed playing his lottery numbers, fishing, working in his yard, family gatherings, football, basketball, watching the news, good movies, and later, he developed an interest in golf.

Lionel is survived by his wife and companion for over 50 years, Velda Blacksheare-Stovall; daughter, Pamela (the late Maurice) Tillar; son, Lionel D. (Jennifer) Stovall; brother, Charles Stovall (Josephine); nephew, Jason L.
