Lois Yeager Obituary

Lois J. Yeager

Feb 24, 1928 - Jul 7, 2024

Sandusky

Lois J. Yeager, 96, of Castalia, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 7, 2024, at The Willows at Bellevue.

Lois was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Sandusky, to Harold and Vanessa (Werner) Baaske.

Throughout her life, Lois was always a very hard worker and brought her infectious personality and humor with her everyday. Lois spent her working years at Philco, Sandusky Police Department, and General Motors – New Departure Hyatt, where she retired in 1993. Lois and her family were always very proud of the fact that she was honored to be the first female police officer in the city of Sandusky.

Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky. She enjoyed her time fishing and boating on Lake Erie with her husband, Harold, and family. Once her boating days were behind her, you could frequently find Lois and Harold on the Jackson Street Pier visiting with friends. She was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and spent many fall Saturdays watching football with her family.

Lois met her husband, Harold, at Ward Roller Skating Rink in Sandusky. The couple married Aug. 4, 1945, and spent 72 years together prior to Harold passing Dec. 27, 2017. Lois and Harold spent many years racing go-karts on the local circuits and that passion was passed to their son, Bill, who also raced for many years in the Sandusky and Fremont area.

Lois was blessed to have recently experienced a five-generation family. She is survived by her son, Bill (Carolyn) of Castalia; grandsons, Scott (Gretchen) Plano of Texas, Tim (Robin) Roswell of Georgia, and Bill (Jessi) Gainesville of Georgia; seven great-grandchildren, Karley (Dakota) Henson, Blake Yeager, Hannah Nicholson, Zachary Nicholson, Garrett Nicholson, Cade Yeager, and Cole Yeager; great-great-grandson, Bennett Henson; brother, Harold Baaske Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (2017); parents; and sisters, Margie Pressler, Joan Weber, and Barb Baaske.

The family would like to extend extreme gratitude to the staff of the Willows at Bellevue for showing such genuine interest and loving care for her over the last nine months of her life. The Willows made her stay enjoyable and respectful while Lois also had the opportunity to make new friends and impact others with her smile and humor in her final months of life.

Per Lois' wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a public service or visitation. Private family services will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, or Margaretta Fire and Rescue Department, PO Box 567, Castalia.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements for the family.
