Lonnie Wayne Freeman, of Wellington, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, under hospice care in Medina. Born February 1, 1958, in Sandusky, Wayne recently celebrated his 67th birthday. He grew up in Huron and lived briefly in Florida before settling in Wellington, where he raised his family. On June 11, 1977, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane, and they were inseparable until her death in 2016.

He worked for Eggland Farms delivering eggs, then at Ridge Tool, and retired from Certified Oil as a manager. Wayne was a member of Wellington Eagles and Coachman Camping Club.

He loved camping and traveling the country. Known by his big personality, Wayne was the best storyteller (especially around a campfire) and loved dressing up at parties to make people laugh. He was rarely seen without a Pepsi in hand and loved watching westerns. He enjoyed collecting "valuables" and adored his dog, Bella. His wife, kids and grandkids were his world.

Wayne is survived by his children, Tricia (Billy Broud) Freeman, Mandi (Brian) Barrick, and Brandon Freeman; grandkids, Kayden, Hunter, Dylan, Lexi, Blake, Kaiah, Owen, and Jakob; sister, Darlene Brown; and in-laws, Diana (John) Bizorik, Stephanie Savel, John (Melissa) Savel, Randy Bryner, Tracy Bryner and Mike Bryner; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane; father, Garland "Bud" Freeman; mother, Pearl (nee Payne) Grosch; siblings, Ray (Sandra) Freeman and Ronnie Freeman; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Pat Savel.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, February 14, 2025. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
