Louis Hines Obituary

Louis H. Hines Sr.

Oct 5, 1953 - Jul 9, 2024

Sandusky

Louis Hines, 70, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones after having fought a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Oct. 5, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Louis Marshall and OraLee (Moore) Hines, who preceded him in death. Louis had the unique privilege of being raised by his mother and his loving and caring adoptive father, James Hines, who also preceded him in death.

Louis was a 1973 graduate of East Tech High School. He was a dedicated baptized Jehovah's Witness at the Bellevue Congregation. During his lifetime, he was employed in the welding and trucking industry before attending classes to become a security guard. He worked at the Sandusky courthouse doing security and he ended his career at Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority where he became friends with a lot of the residents who liked and respected him.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Gaye Elaine (Porter) Hines; children that cherish his legacy, his sons, Louis Hines Jr. of Killeen, Texas, James Hines of Rocky River, and Lukas Hines of Killeen, Texas, and his only daughter, Breona Hines of Sandusky, who he affectionately called his Baby Girl; two granddaughters, Merriah Hines and Alexis Hines; great-granddaughter, Arriah Hines; siblings, Fred (Cynthia) Hines of Maple Heights and Janie Hines of Cleveland; special aunt, Barbara (Marshall) Ray of Raleigh, North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and exceptional friends.

Louis will always be remembered for his mechanical skills, but most of all, his love for his family and friends. He would help you in any way he could and will be truly missed by all.

At the family's request, cremation has taken place.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky, is assisting family with arrangements.

Visitation with the family will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, until the time of Louis' memorial service at 2 p.m. at Sandusky Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 5014 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870. For those unable to attend, there will be a live Zoom video for the service. Please enter 813 778 9000 Passcode 1920 to join.

Louis' family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Vik and his staff for their caring concern for Louis and his family and would also like to thank Stein Hospice and his main caregivers, Phyllis and Jennifer, who took care of him and gave him their all.

We are so sorry to hear of Louis's passing. Our condolences and prayers to the family. We always enjoyed his visits to the our salvage yard, talking with him, listening to his stories and receiving post cards from your trips. We actually just got one today in the mail from your trip to Shipshewana back in May. God Bless , the crew at Xtreme Auto Recycling.

My heart sunk... I wondered why I hadn´t heard from you. Your last text message I received was July 8th, my birthday. Going to miss you cousin. I´m so glad you reached out and found your Marshall side of the family. You were a kind, caring individual. I will hold you in my heart for the rest of my days. Your cousin, Deidra Batey

Time passed quickly, and painfully from us Louis went away; but Jehovah has him written in his book to be resurrected on a new day. The blessed future is here and coming so for courage we all need to pray. When we see Louis again, joyfully we will have a lot to say
(Here for you with an open heart.)
