Louise Scruggs, 96, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Providence Care Center after a brief illness.

Louise was a woman who loved well and was well-loved. She was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Moultrie, Georgia. She was blessed with 96 years of life.

Louise worked at Providence Hospital until 1991. She retired from the dietary department with a recognition ceremony after 39 years of service.

Louise's talents were many. She was a perfectionist in food preparation and presentation. She was known for her wit, kind heart, fun spirit, and generosity. Louise loved her family and friends unconditionally.

She is survived by daughter, Joselyn and Dudley Harris Jr.; grandchildren, Nina Johnson, Patrice and Alphonso Darden, Dawn Johnson, Christopher and Lori Harris, Jermaine and Nicole Harris, Chastity Johnson, Charles Johnson Jr., Iris Johnson, Crysten Johnson, Terrence Johnson, Dionne Johnson, Reece Rosin, Jenna Rosin, and William Johnson-Parker; special friend, Maxine McGee; and great-grandchildren and numerous others.

Louise was the third of three children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Scruggs Sr.; father, A B Majors; mother, Hester Porter; stepson, Judge Scruggs Jr.; grandmother, Molly Anderson; and sisters, Rosalee Pittman and May Pearl Johnson.

A celebration of Louise's life will be Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. with Louise's service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Curtis Johnson Jr. will officiate. Entombment will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
