Luella Knight Obituary

Luella Knight

Jun 2, 1938 - Feb 12, 2025

Sandusky

Luella (Coleman) Knight, fondly known as Lou by people who knew and loved her, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Lou was born June 2, 1938, in Michigan to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Furnas) Coleman. She was a strong, confident, independent and loyal woman with many friends and family that loved her.

Lou graduated from Gorham-Fayette High School in 1955 in Fayette, Ohio. She loved and called Sandusky home and worked at Sandusky Municipal Court for many years and retired as Erie County Clerk of Courts in 1998.

She had a strong passion for animals and had many dogs over the course of her life, including her recent rescue dog and constant companion Bear.

She was an avid fan of the Buckeyes football team and enjoyed watching games with her family. She also loved keeping up with her grandchildren and their athletic endeavors. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and watching the families of geese every spring. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her 2 grandchildren Lily and Luke.

Lou is survived by her only son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kat Marriott of London, Ohio; two loving grandchildren, Lily and Luke Marriott; and her sister-in-law, Karen Skinn.

In addition to her parents, Luella is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, George H. Knight in 2019. With George, Lou spent many years as the wife of a sailor on the Great Lakes for Bethlehem Steel. Over the years they developed many enduring and lifelong friendships cultivated around sailing and traveling.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
