Lyn Ray Dircks, 88, formerly of Milan, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday,April 4, 2026, at Admiral's Pointe in Huron, Ohio. Lyn was born November 8, 1937, in Sandusky. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk. Lyn enjoyed farming, watching sports and attending sporting events for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Jean loved watching the Guardians games together.

Lyn was a 1955 graduate of Huron City Schools, where he participated in football and basketball. In his early years, he participated in Boy Scouts with his father being the leader. He discovered his love for farming at age 14 while working for Charlie Nichols Farms in Huron. Upon graduation, Lyn attended Ohio State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary (Jean) Heimrich, March 7, 1957. He enjoyed playing dartball with the men from Union Corners when he was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sandusky. Lyn was also an Edison Athletic Booster while his children were in school.

Lyn held various jobs while farming, including work on the railroad in Bellevue and at Clevite in Milan. He spent over 35 years employed at Boose Farms in Norwalk, doing various jobs, including interpreting Spanish, and as a Licensed Custom Applicator. After Boose Farms closed in 2000, he was employed at Holthouse Farms in Willard until he retired. While he was employed at Holthouse, he also worked on woodworking projects in the winter to sell at Gingersnap Junction in Milan, which his wife, Jean, owned. He kept a garden that started small and grew each year.

To know Lyn was to love him. He will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature, the love he shared with all who knew him, and for his wonderful laugh and great smile.

Lyn is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Mark) S. Kropf of Sandusky; son, Walter (Dianne) L. Dircks of Black Mountain, North Carolina.; foster daughter, Eleanor (Dennis) Stout of Elyria; son-in-law, Roger Dukes of Kentucky; brothers, Lehr (Marcia) Dircks and Lon (Gloria) Dircks; grandchildren, Shaun (Nicole) Keefer, Cassandra (Sumair) Khalid, Kayleigh (Gregg) Snyder, Karly (Cory) Dircks, and Kelsey (Tim) Dircks; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lyn was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Jean) Dircks in July of 2025; daughter, Amy Dukes in 2022; son-in-law, Mark Kropf in 2022; parents, Raymond and Ruth (Miller) Dircks; sister, Karen Willis and her husband, Alvin; brother, Loren Dircks; sister-in-law, Marcia Dircks; and her foster daughter's husband, Dennis Stout.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to celebrate the lives of Lyn and Jean at Groff Funeral Homes - Milan Chapel, 1 South Main Street, Milan, with Pastor Phil Gardner presiding. A private inurnment will take place at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk.
