Mable Amison, 71, of Columbus, peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Grant Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1951, in Itta Bena, Mississippi, to Estell Amison Sr. and Ida Lee Amison. The family relocated to Sandusky in 1952.

Mable graduated from Sandusky High School in 1970. While in high school, she completed the cosmetology program and became a licensed cosmetologist. Mable later entered U.S. Army in 1971, where she was a medical corpsman and dental specialist until she was honorable discharged in 1974. Following her discharge, she became employed at Ford Motor Company until she retired.

Mable leaves to cherish her memories two beloved daughters, Justaina (Ricky) Caslin Jr. and Octavia Jordan, both of Columbus; four granddaughters, Sierra (James) Mathews, Shameka Amison, and Kristina Bibb, all of Columbus, and Nan Adwoa Owusu-Aabio of Stafford, Virginia; three grandsons, ShakurVonte Jordan, Keiondre Pegram, and Elijiah Owusu-Ababio, all of Columbus; six great-grandkids, Shaniya, Danta'e, London, Akino, Kameron, and Adonis, all of Columbus; brothers, Clinton and Howard Amison, both of Columbus, and Joseph (Laura) Amison of Hopewell, Virginia; sisters, Georgia, Nancy, and Donnie "Dee Dee" Amison, all of Columbus, and Carrie Rhone of Prince George, Virginia; brother-in-law, Harold D. Smith of Sandusky; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Christene Amison-Smith, Allene Jeanette Amison, and Darlene (Lynne) Amison; and two brothers, Samuel Lee Amison and Deacon Estell Amison Jr.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, until the time of Mable's funeral at 12 p.m. at Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky.
