Marco DaVaughn Lately, 36, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his residence.

He was born July 17, 1988, in Sandusky, and was a 2007 graduate of Sandusky High School.

He was employed by Ventra, Cracker Barrel, Cedar Point, Max and Erma's, and Travel Lodge.

Marco loved music, comedy, laughing, cooking, spending time with his family and close friends, dancing, taking trips, working, playing cards, but most of all, he loved his son and his mother.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ruffin; father, Michael L. Lately Sr.; son, Mar'shon Dakhai Lately; son's mother, Shanice Adcock; grandmother, Minnie Ruffin; siblings, Michael Lately Jr., Jovon Lately, Michelle Lately, Brandon Pettis, MyQueesha Lately, Garris Lately, Elizabeth Lately, and Terrance Holden; aunt, Patricia "TeTe" Ruffin; uncles, Jack Ruffin, Leon Ruffin, Pete Durrah, and W.D. Durrah; special cousins, William Ruffin, Cornellus Ruffin, and Delon Ruffin, who were all like brothers; a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elizabeth Lately; and grandfather, Jack O'Neal.

Visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, until the time of Marco's funeral at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, bring bow ties and neck ties, as Marco loved to collect ties.
