Margaret S. (Fodor) Matyok, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, peacefully at home after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

Born May 9, 1937, in Toledo, to the late Julius and Margaret (Tima) Fodor, Margaret graduated from Waite High School in 1956. She spent many years working alongside her husband, a chef, and later served as a food server at The Parkvue Community in Sandusky, retiring at age 82 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Margaret had a giving heart and loved to volunteer, often visiting with residents at Parkvue and serving at various locations with her daughter, Pamela, including with groups at The Chapel. She also sang with the Melody Makers, sharing music and entertainment with nursing home residents. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ and enjoyed attending services at The Chapel. She loved animals, nature, and anything that sparked her youthful spirit-especially stuffed animals, animation, and Disney. Many enjoyed following her cheerful adventures and outings on Facebook. Most of all, Margaret cherished her family. Her grandchildren remember her as a wonderful Nana who made every moment special.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lewis of Sandusky; grandchildren, Alexis (Chip) Koch of Sandusky and Jacob (Bailey Sullivan) Lewis of Chicago; siblings, Ernie (Peggy) Fodor and Judy (Braxton) Stroemel; sisters-in-law, Karen Fodor and Karen Fodor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. "Chef Louie" Matyok in 2008; son, Lewis P. Matyok Jr. in 2017; siblings, Gene and Robert Fodor; nephew, Stephen Fodor; and nieces, Deserieé Dupuis and Becky Fodor.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of funeral services at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. A private family burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
