Mary Frances Bliss, 73, of Berlin Heights, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born Sept. 18, 1950, in Fremont, to Forest and Frances (Boyer) Bliss.
Mary graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1968 and Bowling Green State University in 1972 with a Bachelor's degree in Math and English. She taught in southern Ohio and started a Title 9 program for girls' sports. She moved back to Fremont to take care of her parents and started a self-employed company where she coached girl's softball. She also played many years of softball and volleyball. After the death of her parents, she moved to Lakewood and started a computer company with her older sister until she retired. She moved to Berlin Heights and began tutoring math with her sister Amelia until COVID hit. Amelia and Mary bought the old grocery store in Berlin Heights and converted it to an apartment and tutoring center. Amelia and Mary helped found the Milan/Berlin Heights Friends of the Library.
In her spare time, she, along with her sister, enjoyed travel and attending professional football games.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Barbara Bliss of Berlin Heights and Maida Bliss of Fremont; brother, John Bliss of California; three nephews; one niece; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Patricia Bliss-Egan, Nancy (Bliss) Ross, and Amelia Bliss.
Private graveside services have taken place.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to Mary's memory may do so to Charger Café Kindness account, 20 Center St., Berlin Heights, Ohio, 44814, or Milan-Berlin Township Friends of the Library, 19 E. Church Street, Milan, Ohio, 44846.
