Mary Lou (Maldonado) Cantu, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.
Mary Lou was born July 23, 1933, to Felix and Frances (Falcon) Maldonado.
Mary was employed at Firelands Hospital for many years and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 57 years, Daniel Cantu; three children, Steven Cantu of Columbus, Lisa (Jude) Gennari of Sandusky, and Fabian Cantu of Sandusky; grandson, Blaise Gennari of Tennessee; sister, Harriet Lopez of Fremont; brother, Peter Maldonado of Castalia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Cantu; sisters, Frances Rendon, Susie Loredo, and Pauline Ramon; and brothers, John and Richard Maldonado.
Visitation for friends will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A prayer service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, with Fr. Zach Brown presiding. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemeteries of Sandusky.

Uncle Danny---sending you and your entire family, my deepest sympathy and my love during this sad time.
Aunt Mary Lou was such a sweet warm lady. She was always kind and gracious when we would visit during our vacations in Ohio.
She will be missed and she will always have a special place in my heart.
