Mary Kerner Schild Rogers, 96, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

She was born Feb. 18, 1928, in Norwalk, to George and Ethel (Negel) Kerner. Mary was a graduate of Norwalk St. Paul High School's class of 1946. She was proud that both of her children, Dennis and Mary Beth Schild, and five grandchildren, all graduated from St. Paul.

Mary loved the sun, water, and condo, reading Smithsonian, Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Notre Dame, and the Flyers. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends.

She worked for Woolworths, Norwalk Truck Lines, Schild's Tire & Supply, and Schild's IGA for 45 years.

She is survived by her children, Dennis and Karen Schild, Mary Beth Schild, Carl and Ann McGookey, and Earl and Patrick Rogers; grandchildren, Rev. Eric Schild, Brandon and Loren Schild, Ryan and Kate Schild, Katie and Matt Scheerer, Steven (and Kate Patsiavos) Farmer, and Bryan and Katie McGookey; and great-grandchildren, Elsie, Olsen, Leah, Will, Max, Mason, Finn, Eli, and Shea.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen James; daughter, Cynthia Kay; husband, James Schild; and husband, Tom Rogers.

Visitation for friends and family will 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, concluding with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with her grandson, the Rev. Eric Schild conducting services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The funeral Mass may be livestreamed by visiting the church's website, https://stpaulchurch.org/.
