Mary Ann Templeton, 87, residing in Castalia, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Mary was born March 2, 1938, in Lima, to the late Wayne and Genevieve (Miller) Crosser.

Mary graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956, studied music at Ohio Wesleyan University, and earned her nursing degree from Providence School of Nursing in 1959. After graduating from nursing school, Mary served as an assistant clinical instructor in the practical nursing program for the Sandusky Board of Education. She worked at many area hospitals as an emergency room nurse and later retired from Firelands Regional Medical Center in 1996 after almost forty years of dedicated service.

Mary was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as an Eucharistic minister. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and music. After retirement, she especially loved teaching piano and giving voice lessons to local musicians and served as an adjudicator for High School Solo & Ensemble competitions for several years. Above all, Mary cherished time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Templeton, whom she married September 23, 1961. She is also survived by her three daughters, Ruthann (Barry) Kain of Kettering, Margaret (David) Rudolph of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Laura (Eric) Alkire of Bellevue; son, Jim (Debbie) Templeton of Troy; 10 grandchildren, Molly (Matt) Hughes, Patrick (Gibby) Kain, Jay Kain, James (Megan) Templeton, Jacob Templeton, Ben Rudolph, Brock Rudolph, Glen Alkire, Katie Alkire, and Max Alkire; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her grandson, Brad Rudolph and sister, Carol Homola.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The North Ohio Lake Erie Nurse Honor Guard will conduct memorial services Thursday at 6 p.m. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home Friday, December 19, 2025, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky, with Father Hoyles presiding. Burial will follow at Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
