Mary A. (Rethinger) Welch, 97, residing in Sandusky and formerly of Fremont, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born March 31, 1926, in Toledo, to Hubert and Agnes (Hermiller) Rethinger. Mary graduated from St. Ursula's Academy, Toledo, and married Orville Welch on June 10, 1950.
Mary was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky.
She is survived by four grandchildren; sister, Alice Watson of Fremont; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Orville, after 62 years of marriage in 2012; sons, Christopher Welch and Mark Welch; daughter-in-law, Deborah Welch; parents; a sister in infancy; and brothers, Father Omer Rethinger, Paul Rethinger, and James Rethinger.
A private family service will be at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Father Jim Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. There will be a celebration of life ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, with a gathering at 1:45 p.m. until services at 2:30 p.m. at Providence Commons Assisted Living Building, 5000 Providence Dr., Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to Commons of Providence, 5000 Providence Dr., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or St. Jude's Research Center, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
