Mary White Obituary

Mary Lucille "Mary Lou" White

Oct 21, 1933 - Jan 18, 2023

Sandusky

Mary Lucille "Mary Lou" White, 89, of Sandusky, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, after a brief illness.

Mary Lou was born Oct. 21, 1933, in Sandusky, to the Clayton and Mary Lucille (Conley) Monaghan. She was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School and member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Following her graduation, she worked for Ohio Bell, Sandusky, as an operator. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Ramon (Ray) White. They remained life-long Sandusky residents while raising their family. Mary Lou worked at several local businesses.

While her young children were at school, she worked as an instructor at Kiddie College daycare and the lunchroom at Perkins Middle School. Later, she was a bookkeeper at Denzer's Office Supplies and Viewpoint and Harbourview Senior Living Apartments where she also acted as Activities Coordinator. Her time working at Viewpoint and Harbourview was her favorite as she enjoyed looking after the senior residents. She used her superior baking skills to throw many parties for the residents and took groups of seniors on daytrips throughout Ohio. She retired from Viewpoint and Harbourview to enjoy her grandchildren, golf, and travel with Ray.

Mary Lou had many lifelong friends and others that she met along the way, impacting many lives. She always put herself third, behind God and her family. Mary Lou had a naïve and pure personality remaining perpetually optimistic throughout life. She loved animals and nature. Mary Lou was proud of her backyard garden where she had a collection of perennials and always planted annuals each spring in the front of her home.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Amy) White of Saline, Michigan; daughter, Suzanne (David) Stuck of Sandusky; daughter-in-law, Carol White of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Kelsey White of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Brittany (Lucas) Holzhauer of Perrysburg, John (Olivia) White of Independence, Grant White of Huron, Andrew (Brooke) White of Royal Oak, Michigan, and Emily White of Raleigh, North Carolina; brother, Bill (Judy) Monaghan of Sandusky; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Wyse (Rodney) of Cedarville, Barbra White of Granville, and Evelyn Monaghan of Lambertville, Michigan; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; son, Christopher White of Sandusky; brother, Tom Monaghan of Lambertville, Michigan; and her parents.

Private family Mass of Christian burial will be at Holy Angel's Catholic Church. A celebration of Mary Lou's wonderful life will take place in the summer of 2023 at her daughter's backyard garden. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date.

We remember Mary Lou and would talk to her when we visited my dad, Leon Osborn. We visited her a few years ago. She was always smiling and happy. We really enjoyed visiting with Mary Lou.

I golfed with Mary Lou at Sawmill. She was one of the nicest people I ever met. Everything that was said about her in her obituary is so true. A truly lovely gracious and kind person.
