Max Bohn Obituary

Max L. Bohn

Feb 4, 1933 - Oct 21, 2024

Castalia

Max LaMar Bohn, 91, of Castalia, went to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following lengthy illnesses.

He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Castalia and graduated from Margaretta High School. He co-owned Bohn Implement since 1955 with his father and brothers. He was a farmer his whole life, retiring at age 88. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was a member of Chapel Sandusky.

Max was very proud to be a farmer and whenever he was asked what he did for a living he would say "I feed the world". His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always remember in their hearts all the fun they had at the farm, from gator rides to combine and tractor rides. They will forever cherish those times. Family meant everything to him.

He is survived by his wife, the former Patty Payne to whom he was married to for 67 years; two daughters, Jeanine (Ron) Bankieris and Lorrie (Rich) Mitnik; two sons, David (Kathy) Bohn and Michael Bohn; eight grandchildren, Randy (Jen) Cox, Bryan Cox, Tony (Taylor) Bankieris, Jessica (Jeremy) Bunce, Tyler (Crystal) Matter, Taylor (Travis) Brooks, Jacob Mitnik and Jordan (Bryce) Roberts; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Bohn; brother-in-law, Ted Payne; and several nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Bohn; a sister, Patricia Gardner; three brothers, Jack, Bill and George; brothers-in-law, Duane (Pat) Gardner and Calvin (Rita) Payne; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Jack) Bohn, Delores (George) Bohn, Rita (Calvin) Payne and Janet (Ted) Payne; and mother-in-law, Nona Payne.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd. Sandusky, with Pastor Dave Brown officiating.
