Michael A. Browne, 68, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a prolonged illness.
Born in Sandusky June 29, 1956, he was the son of the late Richard P. and Irma (Fluke) Browne.
Michael graduated from Sandusky High School in 1974. He worked at Cedar Point during high school and after graduation, it was there he met his wife Michele in the Summer of 1977. Michael went on to start his own business; Browne Distributing, specializing in Malco products, additives, and detailing products. An ardent sports enthusiast, he cheered for all Ohio teams especially the Cleveland Guardians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Even till the end, Michael would watch or listen to his beloved Cleveland teams any chance he could. Michael also coached his children's baseball teams and actively participated in the Sandusky Band Parents organization for nearly a decade. His love for Lake Erie led him to find solace in fishing and the beauty of nature.
Survived by his wife, Michele (Hare) Browne, whom he married October 21, 1978, Michael leaves behind three children, Eric (Amy) Browne of Norwalk, Krista Browne of Sandusky, and Matthew (Emily) Browne of Rossford; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Eleanor Browne; brothers, Rick (Ginny) Browne of Vermilion and Steve Browne of Sandusky; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives that mourn his passing.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Mike's Life 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. In honor of Michael's love for sports, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Ohio sports team attire.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute to Mike's memory may do so to American Diabetes Association, 4500 Rockside Road, Independence, OH 44131 or Sandusky Fire Department Shoe Fund, 600 West Market Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
