Myron "Mike" Schmenk, 81, residing in Huron, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.

Mike was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Neal and Freda (Meyer) Schmenk, who preceded him in death.

Mike graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960, earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute in 1965, and earned his Master of Science in Engineering Science in 1967 from University of Tennessee. He was employed as a mechanical engineer for several years and was a lecturer and published author in his field of expertise. He was awarded several patents. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio and Certified Quality Engineer.

Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (Harple) Schmenk; daughter, Leslie (Jeff) Wallace; son, Michael (Ronda) Schmenk; grandchildren, Vincent, Camron, Trey, Sophia, and Genevieve; sisters, Linda (Rich) Wilson and Marta "Rosie" (Dr. Steven) McCullough; brothers, Denis (Judy), Joe (Terri), and Tom (Ann) Schmenk; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2023, until the time of Mike's funeral at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.
