Nancy M. Elchert, 85, of Upper Sandusky, passed away at 8:26 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, in the emergency room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

Nancy was born Oct. 14, 1937, in Sandusky, to Eugene and Mildred (Tight) Thomas. She married Gerald C. "Jerry" Elchert on June 20, 1959, and he survives.

She is also survived by three children, Jeff Elchert of Sandusky, Kathy (Jim) Schuster of Upper Sandusky, and Scott (Leisha) Elchert of Jackson Center; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Zack) Bame, Brittney (Alex) Soucek, Trey (Macey) Elchert, Haley (Grant McBride) Elchert, Kamryn (Micah Smock) Elchert, Christopher Elchert, and Grant Elchert; and five great-grandchildren, Carter Bame, Chase Bame, Joey Soucek, Charlie Soucek, and Louie Elchert.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jeanne Markwood.

She was a 1959 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Sandusky.

Nancy was a homemaker and member for 64 years of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky. She was active with the church, serving for many years on funeral dinners, with preparation of the church newsletter, and volunteering at St. Peter's school. She was also a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society.

For hobbies, she enjoyed taking care of her home, shopping, and following sports. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. They meant everything to her and she was blessed to be there for them. Whether it was babysitting or following their sporting and other school activities, she was always there for them. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, Upper Sandusky, with Father Conrad Sutter, Deacon Keving Winterstellar, and Father Phil Feltman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church, Our Lady of Consolation School, or Jackson Center Athletic Boosters. Memorials can be forwarded to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
