Nancy Sortino, 77, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 23, 2024, at Parkvue Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Nancy was born on April 24, 1947 in Sandusky, to Vane and Alice (Combs) Faulkner.
Nancy graduated from Perkins High School in 1964. After high school, she worked as a beautician at Cedar Point, where she met the love of her life, George. Together, they built a beautiful life, with Nancy becoming an integral part of the family business, often found bartending or showcasing her exceptional cooking skills. Nancy was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She had a passion for life, spending winters in Las Vegas enjoying blackjack and slot machines. She also loved karaoke, often performing with her sister and friends as the "Us Gang." A talented crafter, she took pride in knitting special outfits for her grandchildren, personalizing clothing, and adding her signature Swarovski crystal touch to nearly everything. Nancy, affectionately known as "The Hammer," was known for her firm yet loving parenting style. Above all, she was a loving wife, devoted mother and the best "Nonnie" to her grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories.
Nancy is survived by her husband, George Sortino, whom she married on April 1, 1967. She is also survived by her children, Michele (Veronica Galloway) Sortino, Angela (Kyle Grathwol) Sortino, John (Heather) Sortino and Melissa (Justin Harris) Sortino; nine grandchildren, Giorgio and Salvatore Sortino, Elle (Kouty) Mawenh, Alexandria (Jon) Tomaz, Alyssa (Tom) Ems, Alexa Bass, Sofia Sortino, and Nancy and Sam Siegel; three great-grandchildren, Mari, Ami, and Milo; sister, Marsha (John) Windau; sister-in-law, Giovanna Ruta; brother-in-law, James (Rosaria) Sortino; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and special loved ones, Tarina Sidoti, Donnie Bass and Thomas Siegel.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, Dan (Marla) Faulkner.
The most beautiful word in the world is "Mama," and without Mama, there would be no us.
Visitation for friends will be at 4-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Additional visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory with Deacon Phil Dinovo presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.

Just wanted to give my deepest sympathy for your loss. I've lived in Tennessee for the past 15 years. I'm just now finding out of Nancy's passing. I've known some of your family over the years and I believe I've sang a song or two at kareoke with some of you. Always nice seeing you all when I did see you out and about. Didn't know you all well, but you all always made me feel welcome at you establishments over the years. Ty and once again.my deepest sympathy
