Nathaniel "Natty Boy" Charlton, 68, of Elyria, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness. He was under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve. Nate was born June 22, 1954, in Lorain to Charlie Dee Sr. and Geraldine Charlton. He was an avid sports fan and shared a lifelong passion for singing. Nate was a member of the Living Word Church in Lorain and was a long-time employee of Brown-Robinson Funeral Home. He was loved by many friends and co-workers. Nate was well known for his stylish suits and welcoming smile.
Nate is survived by his long-time companion, Diane Pope (Helen and Jason Whitehead); his children, Nathaniel (Anika) Charlton, Luther Bonilla, Julia Taylor, Tanecha Charlton-Paden, Tiaira Charlton Wyatt, Jerome Fields Jr., Damita Bonilla, Juana Glass and Joequenda Ivey; sisters, Cherry Marshall, Carolyn Davis, Minister Rose Taylor, Natalie Blue (Wayne), Elizabeth Lindsey; brothers, Ronald Charlton (Marsetta), Jeremiah Charlton and Gerald Charlton (Virginia); along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Dee Charlton Sr.; mother, Geraldine Charlton Holiday; brothers, David Charlton, Charlie Dee Charlton Jr. and Joseph K. Charlton Sr.; sisters, Corrina Charlton Harris and Dorothy Charlton Windham;
step-son, Charles Ivey Williams; grandson, Addaryl D. Morris Jr.; and granddaughter, Danisha D. Morris.
All services will be held at Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28 St, Lorain. A viewing will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

I was walking down the halls of Southview high school in 1969 and heard Nate singing and asked him to sing in my band the Soul Combination. We had great times together doing shows. I haven't seen him in 50 years. I was heart broken to hear of his passing. May Jahovah god and his son Christ Jesus remember him so we can all be in Christ kingdom on the day of reserection.
