Ned David Gassan, 79, of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025. Born in Sandusky, February 16, 1946.
Ned was a devoted husband to Cheryl Anne (Schweinfurth) Gassan for 58 years. Beloved father to Peter Gassan (Chelle) and Mack Gassan (Bethany). Cherished Grandfather to Ashley Surbella (Gian), Tyler Gassan (Tina), Amanda Gassan (Bruce Jones), and Chloe Kooistra (Kevin). Great-grandfather to Nico Surbella. Loving brother to Mark Gassan (Marsha). Loving uncle to Virginia Melendreras (Sean) (Great Niece Elena) and Matthew Gassan (Rebecca).
Ned was a 1964 graduate from Perkins High School, University of Maryland, and University of Southern California. He served with the US Army and NATO from 1966-1986. Stationed overseas in Vietnam, Germany, Portugal, Italy.
Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bettie Gassan; grandparents, George and Muriel Stradtman and Henry and Wilma Gassan.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at later date.
