Nunzia "Nancy" Ruta, 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
Nunzia was born August 10, 1945, in Modica, Sicily, to the late Nunzio and Maria (Ruta) Civello.
Nunzia worked as a secretary for Carmelo Ruta Inc. and was a devoted member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was an exceptional cook who enjoyed ballroom dancing and was known for her generous, caring nature. Above all, she had a deep and enduring love for her children and grandchildren.
Nunzia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carmelo Ruta, whom she married April 16, 1964 in Italy. She is also survived by her daughter, Anna (Bartolo) Mormina; son, George R. (Matthew Pickworth) Ruta; six grandchildren, Carlo Mormina, Dario (Kali Czekaj) Mormina, Luca Mormina, Carmelo Ruta, Nunzio Ruta and Gabriella Ruta.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave. Sandusky, with Father Chris Turner presiding. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Carmelo, I was deeply saddened to hear of Nunzia Rute´s passing. She was a wonderful person whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
