Ola Taylor Obituary

Ola M. Taylor

Jun 1, 1947 - Feb 10, 2025

Sandusky

Ola Mae (Miller) Taylor (affectionally known as Bae Bae) was born to the late FocC (pronounced FAHK-see) and Martha A. Miller on June 1, 1947, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Ola was the second of four children.

Ola gained her heavenly wings Monday, February 10, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ola met her groom, Hilton C. Taylor, in Mississippi. They moved to Sandusky and were married August 13, 1967. From that union, they had two children – Charlotta R. and Chadwick R. Taylor.

Ola graduated from Harper High School in 1966. She attended Mississippi Valley State University for one year prior to moving with Hilton to Sandusky in 1967. She worked for several years at Hill's Department Store (eventually becoming Ames), holding various positions from cashier to the cash office. When Ames closed, she worked for TJ Maxx and Sam's Club until her retirement.

Ola and Hilton joined Porter's Memorial C.M.E Church in 1971. She had several roles – Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Stewardess, and most recently, Recording Steward. If she could not attend service, she would find other services to stream online (especially Triumph Church in Detroit.) One thing is for certain: she was going to get her WORD in one way or another.

Ola was known affectionately as "Granny," "Auntie," and "Mama," and she loved all these roles. She cherished each role and loved all those who called her by these names. She enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, cooking, spending time with family and friends and shopping. Home Shopping Network (HSN) was one of her favorite channels.

She leaves to carry on her legacy her children, Charlotta and Chadwick (LaShawn) Taylor; grandchildren, Ksenija (Dominie) Dawson, Kanaan Taylor and Skylar Taylor; sister-in-law, Edna Miller; nephews, Johnnie C. (Rhonda) Miller Jr, Marvin Miller, and Kenneth (Faye) Miller, Terrence Taylor, Fritz (Keisha) Taylor, Pierre Taylor and Brandon Taylor; nieces, Colette Belfor, Rosalind Lewis, Teresa Taylor-(Fernando) Davidson, Kendra Taylor; brother-in-law, Larry Taylor; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family members that received their wings prior to Ola were her parents, FocC and Martha A. Miller; husband, Hilton C. Taylor; brothers, Johnnie C. Miller, Clifton Miller, and Israel Miller.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
