Oscar Franco Obituary

Oscar F. "Frank" Franco

Feb 26, 1939 - Feb 15, 2024

Sandusky

Oscar F. "Frank" Franco, 84, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Admirals Pointe Nursing Home, just shy of his 85th birthday.

He was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Crystal City, Texas, to Agapito and Hortencia (Calvillo) Franco.

Frank was a 1958 graduate of Bettsville High School and proud veteran of U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He attended Heidelberg University, where he was the first Hispanic to join his fraternity, Sigma Epsilon Nu, and obtained his Bachelor's Degree of Business from Bowling Green State University. Frank was very active in his community. He volunteered for La Raza United of North West Ohio and worked under Cesar Chavez, the Civil Rights Activist. He was employed for many years by the former Basic Co. in Bettsville and Sandusky Foundry. He retired in 2004 from Whirlpool in Clyde after many years of employment. He was a member of Faith Church. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed golfing, doing yard work, building, and performing renovations on his home. He was a true family man who treasured time with his family more than anything. If you were lucky enough to know Frank, you probably were the proud recipient of one of his endearing nicknames.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marsha J. Miller-Franco, whom he married Dec. 13, 1977; daughter, Elizabeth (Johnny) Boles and their children, Cassidy, Kobi, and Karson; son, Frank Franco and his children, Lauren (Frank), Hanna, Frank Jr., Bethanie, Jonathan, Samantha, and Nick; daughter, Gina (Jasin) Hosler and their children, Mia, Ava, and Griffin; son, Tim Hunsinger; daughter, Dawn (John) Harris and their children, Shelby (Lorenzo), Madison, Holly, and John; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gaspar (Margaret) Franco and Mary (Bob Levine) Ildvad; brother-in-law, Arnie Flores; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Flores.
