Paul A. Eckel Jr., 67, of Danbury Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at Otterbein North Shore.

He was born April 1, 1955, in Oregon, Ohio, the son of Paul A. and Dolores M. (Fuller) Eckel Sr. He married Kathleen Corthell on Feb. 10, 1979, and she survives. Paul graduated from Rossford High School and served in U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and also served in Army National Guard. He worked in security for Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station for 32 years, retiring in 2015. He previously was a Danbury Township Police Officer and Ottawa County Sheriff Deputy. After retirement, he was a Bailiff for Ottawa County Municipal Court. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury, and First United Church of Christ, Marblehead. He previously was a member of Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department and Ottawa County Fraternal Order of Police.

Paul is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Alison Smith of Oak Harbor and Ashley (Brian) Knox of Seattle, Washington; son, Ryan (Jordan York) Eckel of Marblehead; grandchildren, Hattie Knox, Thomas Knox, Henry Knox, and Lena Knox; and siblings, Marinda (Rich) Zera of Bowling Green and Ron Eckel of Marblehead.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 12-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. Paul's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 Church Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury, First United Church of Christ, 802 Prairie St., Marblehead, Ohio, 43440, or Danbury Township Fire and Rescue, 7870 W. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio, 43440.
