Paul McClellan Obituary

Paul E. McClellan

May 3, 1941 - Sep 28, 2025

Berlin Heights

Paul Eugene McClellan, known to all simply as Gene, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 84. Born May 3, 1941, in Dante, Virginia, to the late Nathe and Bonnie McClellan, Gene later made his home in Berlin Heights, Ohio, where he spent many years surrounded by family, friends, and the outdoors he loved so dearly.

Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Patsy McClellan and his beloved son, Nathan McClellan. He was a proud grandfather to Abbie Rine and her husband, Sean, as well as Megan McClellan, and a loving great-grandfather to Garrett and Aven. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who each held a special place in his heart; his nephew Wayne often lingered a little longer to swap stories and share their love of carpentry and guns.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved daughter-in-law, Amy McClellan, who meant so much to him, his parents, Nathe and Bonnie McClellan, and his siblings: Goldy, Florence, Earl, Frank, Floyd (affectionately known as "Toots"), Bernice, Victor Edward, and Victoria Jane.

In his early years, Gene worked in the coal mines of Virginia, a job that shaped his strength, resilience, and deep respect for hard work. After moving to Ohio, he worked in the U.S. Gypsum mines in Port Clinton before beginning his 29-year career at the Ford Assembly Plant, where he was a proud member of the UAW. His dedication and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

An avid outdoorsman, Gene found his greatest joy in the woods and by the water. Whether hunting, fishing with Nathan, or running his rabbit beagles with his lifelong buddy Johnny, he was happiest under the open sky. He had a talent for whittling and could often be found sitting beneath his favorite tree, knife in hand, crafting with care while cracking jokes. A natural storyteller and legendary jokester, Gene had a gift for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.

Viewing will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel in Berlin Heights, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, officiated by Pastor Joe Woodyard. Following the service, a luncheon will be provided at Mt. Harvest Church of God in Milan.

Those wishing to contribute to Paul's memory may do so to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Gene's presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
