Richard Frasca Obituary

Richard H. Frasca

Mar 14, 1951 - Oct 13, 2025

Sandusky

Richard Henry Frasca, 74, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, October 13, 2025, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland after battling a brief illness.

Rich was born March 14, 1951, in Rome, New York, to the late Enrico and Lena (Gattari) Frasca.

As a graduate from Rome Free Academy in 1969, Rich went on to earn his bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University. He then moved to Sandusky in 1977 to begin his career as an environmental engineer with Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2015 after nearly 40 years. He was an avid golfer and participated in various golf leagues in the area. He also enjoyed off-track horse betting, cheering on Cleveland sports teams, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Known for his quiet strength, sharp intellect, and devotion to his family, Rich was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He lived with quiet humility, a sharp wit, and a deep love for life's simple pleasures-whether it was savoring a homemade Italian meal, strolling through Osborn Park, strumming his guitar from the comfort of his favorite rocking chair, or enjoying winter getaways to Florida.

Rich is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jo (Fitz) Frasca. He is also survived by his two daughters, Kristin (Derrick Harmon) Frasca of Chicago, Illinois, and Stephanie (Tom) DeTemple of Cincinnati; son, Nicholas (Christine) Frasca of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Lucy (7), Evelyn (6), Henry (6), Josephine (4), and Hudson (3); sister, Barbara (Tom) Shortslef of Victor, New York; and cousin, Gail Spadafora of New Hartford, New York; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky, with Father Prashanth Kumar presiding. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.

Those wishing to contribute to Rich's memory may do so to Catholic Charities, 48 Executive Drive, Suite 2, Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
