Richard Dean Montgomery, 93, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at home with his wife of 74 years after a brief illness.
He was born April 11, 1929, in Lima, Ohio. Richard was a graduate of Elida High School and had various jobs over the years, working for Ohio Ball Bearing, Lima Refinery, Standard Oil, and Fruehauf Trucking.
He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much and was a wonderful fan of all their events. He was an avid golfer and shot his age when he was 82, a loving friend and neighbor, and accomplished "DIY" practitioner. He was also a member of Huron United Methodist Church.
Richard is survived by his wife, Connie (Kraft) Montgomery; daughters, Beth Street and Sally Shewbridge; son, Scott Montgomery; grandchildren, Katie (Lance) Rapp, Amy (Luke) Olts, Julie (Kurt) Frenerick, Justin (Meghan) Street, Jenna (Matt) Wilkerson, Chad (Emma) Street, Spencer (Angie), Kelsey, and Quinn; and great-grandchildren, Hayden, Owen, Gavin, Camille, Eva O., Ellie, Kate, Zoey, Carter, and Eva S.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dean.
Private family services will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity or Wounded Warriors.

Such a wonderful and humble family man. Dick was so prideful and supportive of his family. He was the epitome of a gentlemen and never seemed to meet a stranger. When speaking with him, he made you feel as if you were the most important person in the conversation. We have many memories of being the benefactors of Dick and Connie´s support through their support of Scott and Scott´s work with individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
