Richard Dean "Dick" Widdoes, 95, of New Albany, Ohio, and formerly Sandusky, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born March 1, 1929, in Massillon, to Carroll C. Widdoes and Viola P. Widdoes. Dick was a graduate of Columbus North High School and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. While at OSU, he played on the basketball, football, and golf teams. He excelled as both an athlete and scholar. In 1952, he married Patricia Miller. Upon graduation, Dick served in Army Dental Corp in San Antonio, Texas and Colorado Springs, Colorado. They moved to Sandusky in 1956 to establish his dental practice. Dick was active in the community through his church, schools, volunteerism, sports leagues, and his children's and grandchildren's activities.

Dick is survived his wife of 72 years, Pat; daughters, Lynn (Jay) Anderson of New Albany and Lori (John) Schlessman of Sandusky; son, Bill (Beth) Widdoes of Reynoldsburg; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Tom Widdoes of Sycamore, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Widdoes; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Louann Widdoes; and grandson, Alan Schlessman.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, until the time of Dick's service at 12 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson St., Sandusky.
