Rita A. Bishop, 90, of Willard, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at The Willows at Willard surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 26, 1933, in Monroeville, and was a 1951 graduate of Bellevue High School. Rita was employed as a rural mail carrier in Monroeville many years ago, but primarily worked alongside her husband and family on the farm.

She was a member of the former St. Sebastian Catholic Church and current member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. Rita was also a member of Huron County Farm Bureau, a 50 year 4-H Advisor in Huron County, a Cub Scout leader, member of Agricultural Heritage Society of Huron County, and was a former children's advocate for Huron County CASA. Her hobbies included playing piano, singing, sewing, the outdoors, volunteering for church activities, and enjoyed going to garage sales with her grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen A. Schwab of Willard; son, Gregory F. Bishop of San Diego, California; two grandsons, Jacob P. Schwab of Monroeville and Samuel F. Schwab of Sunbury; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Bishop in 1997; parents, Julius and Eleanor (Missler) Houck; son-in-law, John Schwab; and brother, Albert Houck.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Father Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery, Bellevue. A luncheon will be at the St. Sebastian Community Center following burial.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, Monroeville.
