Robert Johnson Obituary

Robert "Bob" H. Johnson

May 13, 1937 - Jun 10, 2025

Sandusky

Robert "Bob" H. Johnson, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Bob was born May 13, 1937, in Sandusky, to the late Harold and Lila (Lieb) Johnson. A 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves before dedicating 34 years to a management career at Stein, Inc. Following retirement, Bob continued to serve his community as a court officer with the Perkins Police Department and then embraced his favorite role- being a full-time grandpa. He was a proud member of Sandusky AMVETS Post 17, American Legion Post 83, and Huron Eagles Club. Bob and his beloved wife, Carole, were lifelong members of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish. He found joy in golfing, family vacations, cheering for Cleveland sports teams, and watching classic Disney movies. One of his greatest joys in recent days was anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, due in September to Savannah and Kristian.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Andrea (Ken) Berlin; granddaughter, Savannah (Kristian) Abood; brothers, Harold Jr., Eugene, and Larry Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Carole Rae (Fries) Johnson, in 2011; and brothers, Al and Ken Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob's life at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A private family burial will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Those wishing to contribute to Bob's memory may do so to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

I’m Bobs next door neighbor. I only knew him for a year but it feels much longer. He always apologized for being a bad neighbor not having me over for a beer. His illness was the cause delaying that. Fortunately we recently had that beer together. Though a short time, I feel very lucky to have known this wonderful man. I’ll miss him very much.
