Robert "Baldy" Francis Trautman, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2024, at home after a lengthy illness.
Robert was born May 19, 1932, in Sandusky to the late Howard D. and Verna M. (Francis) Trautman.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served his country from Jan. 10, 1952 to Dec. 14, 1955. He was employed as a machine operator at Lower Lake Coal Docks for 30 years and was a truck driver for nine years. Robert was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed putzing around in the garage, driving his backhoe, and telling funny, heartwarming stories.
Robert is survived by his wife, Agnes (Wunder) Trautman, whom he married Aug. 8, 1987. He is also survived by his daughter, Jodee Trautman of Sandusky; three sons, Mark (Lisa) Trautman of South Carolina, Pat (Kelly) Trautman of Sandusky, and Mike (Julie) Trautman of Sandusky; two stepchildren, Kim Yontz and Ron Perry; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Neill; brother, Frank Trautman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Trautman; daughter-in-law, Linda Trautman; grandson, Mark Trautman; four brothers, Howard "Bunk", Clifford, Vic and Vincent; four sisters, Betty J. Laws, Helen Wobser, Shirley Podgurski and Mary Baker; and two siblings in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sandusky, with the Rev. Monte Hoyles presiding. A private family burial will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stein Hospice for their exceptional care for Baldy.

I was so sorry to hear of Baldys passing. Growing up in Bay View i have alot of fond memories of both of your parents. Your Dad playing football with us at the park Your Mom picking us up from football practice or driving us to the movies in her Pinto station wagon I will never forget the time Baldy caught us drinking beer and smoking cigars in his camper Boy was he mad
