Ronald L. "Ron" Pendleton, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at his home watching Gunsmoke.

Ron was born May 7, 1941, in Ney Ohio, Defiance County, the son of Agnes (Pendleton) Mack and Ross Pendleton. His father, Ross, died in Italy serving our country during World War II in 1945.

Ron graduated from Sandusky High School and served our country in U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. In 1966, he enrolled at California State Polytechnic College in San Luis Obispo, California, where he studied agriculture business management and completed horseshoeing school.

In 1972, Ron returned to Marblehead, purchased a farm, and built a 12-stall horse barn which was just the beginning of his new journey. His plans were to shoe and train horses, to which he did, passionately. His kind nature, calming touch, and confident words always earned him good rapport with the animals. His sarcasm and outrageous sense of humor always earned him a good rapport with the owners. Over the years, he served many amazing clients that turned into lifelong friends.

After retiring from the more physical labor, he still kept several irons in the fire hot with a new found passion for woodworking, beekeeping, and bread making.

He is survived by his sons Ross Pendleton, Erik Pendleton, and Adam (Amber Phillips) Pendleton; daughter, Jessica Pendleton; stepson, Scott Cebull; and grandson, Luke Pendleton.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Pendleton; mother, Agnes Mack; father, Ross Pendleton; and stepfather, Robert Mack.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead.
