Sandra L. (Walker) Elgart, 86, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at her home after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Sandusky, to William and Dorothy (Diedrick) Walker.

Sandra graduated from Sandusky High School in 1955. She worked at People's Savings & Loan, F.W. Woolworth's, and later worked at Erie County Disaster Agency, alongside her husband, Howard. She spent much of her life dedicated to the care of her children and family. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing and was a member of many leagues, bowling, swimming, playing cards with her family and friends, traveling on cruises, wintering in Florida, her cats, and spending time with her loving family.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Randy J. Smith) Maschari of Sandusky and Chris (Joseph Yontz) Hedberg of Huron; grandchildren, Taylor Hedberg and Marcus Elgart; great-grandchildren, Ryker and Nyla Slauterbeck; and kitty, Sweety.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Howard A. Elgart, who passed away Christmas Day, 2020; son, Leonard A. Elgart; grandson, Derek A. Elgart; and son-in-law, Louis "Mike" Maschari.

Visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, until the time of Sandra's funeral at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Entombment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
